Dog & Cat Singing Happy Birthday

Type their name, upload one photo, and your dog or cat puts on a party hat and sings Happy Birthday to them, out loud, in an 8-second video.

Birthday songs made from one photo

Every clip started as one ordinary pet photo and one typed name. A party hat, a cake and confetti appear in the first seconds, then the pet sings the whole verse. Tap the speaker on a clip to hear it.

Happy Birthday in five languages

Each clip below was made with that version of the song. Pick one in the panel; the name you type goes into the line shown.

English · Happy Birthday

The name goes into the line “happy birthday dear Grandma”.

Español · Cumpleaños feliz

The name goes into the line “te deseamos, Valentina”.

Português · Feliz aniversário

The name goes into the line “feliz aniversário, João”.

Français · Joyeux anniversaire

The name goes into the line “joyeux anniversaire Léa”.

한국어 · 생일 축하합니다

The name goes into the line “사랑하는 서연”.

Their name, sung in the song

Type the name once and it goes into the third line, "happy birthday dear Lena". The Bengal here started as a plain photo at a desk. In our tests, 10 of 12 names typed in Latin letters were sung right; names spelled differently from how they sound, like Siobhan, were sung the way they are written.

Sung in their language

Pick English, Spanish, Portuguese, French or Korean. The Scottish Fold here sings 생일 축하합니다 to 서연. In our tests, all 13 names in the Spanish, Portuguese, French and Korean versions came out right. German and Russian lyrics came out garbled, so those pages use the English song.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a video of my dog singing Happy Birthday with a name?

Upload a photo of your dog or cat, type the birthday person’s name, pick the song language and press Create. In about a minute you get an 8-second video with sound: a party hat pops onto your pet’s head, a cake with candles appears, and your pet sings the whole Happy Birthday verse with that name.

Is it free? How many credits does it cost?

New accounts get free credits, enough for a first video in high-income countries such as the US but not elsewhere. After that, one 8-second birthday video costs 16 credits at the default settings, sound included, and the price is on the button before you confirm. Credits come with a subscription plan; the cheapest, Starter, is $9 a month. You can also pay once with no subscription: $2.99 for one video or $5.99 for three, and those credits stay valid for 12 months.

Will my pet sing the name right?

Usually. In our tests, 10 of 12 names typed in Latin letters were sung right in the English song, and all 13 names in the Spanish, Portuguese, French and Korean versions. Spell the name the way it sounds: Siobhan was sung as written, and Aaliyah came out closer to "Alia". Names typed in Cyrillic or Japanese kana were often sung wrong. The name is sung, not written on screen: on-screen letters came out misspelled.

Which languages can it sing, and is the song free to use?

English, Spanish (Cumpleaños feliz), Portuguese, French (Joyeux anniversaire) and Korean (생일 축하합니다). In our tests German and Russian lyrics came out garbled and Japanese and Chinese ones were unreliable, so those use the English song. Happy Birthday to You is in the public domain in the US and the EU. For Portuguese the pet sings "Feliz aniversário pra você" rather than the Brazilian Parabéns a Você lyrics, which are still under copyright. The melody is generated with the video, so it will not match any particular recording.

What photo works best, and does the party hat always appear?

A clear, well-lit JPG, PNG or WebP with one pet, its face turned toward the camera and some room above its head. In 26 test videos the hat, cake and confetti appeared every time, once only halfway through. In 2 of them a hand reached into the frame to put the hat on, and sometimes the face blurs for a split second as the hat appears. If you get one of those, create it again; each try costs the same.

Can I send it as a birthday card? Is there a watermark?

Yes. Download the MP4 and send it in any messaging app or by email; it plays with sound on phones and computers. The video is yours to use, including commercially, subject to the source model terms. Downloads on the free plan carry a small Vidney watermark; on any paid plan they download clean.
