Seedance 2.0 vs Veo 3.1, tested on the same prompts
Same three prompts, same settings, one take each. Here is every clip as it came out, what each one costs and how long it took.
The short version
- Seedance 2.0 won 2 rounds, motion and dialogue. The product shot was a tie, with a different flaw on each side.
- Veo 3.1 Fast's dialogue request was blocked by a safety filter on both submits. Seedance 2.0 spoke the line word for word.
- Veo 3.1 Fast is the cheaper and quicker of the two: $1.44 per 4-second 720p clip and 67 s on average, against $5.85 and 211 s for Seedance 2.0.
- Seedance 2.0 staged the full mid-air catch. Veo 3.1 Fast started with the frisbee already in the dog's mouth, though its backlit park was the better-looking shot.
How we tested
We gave Seedance 2.0 and Veo 3.1 Fast the same three English prompts on October 24, 2026: a motion shot, a line of dialogue and a product close-up. Every clip ran once at 4 seconds, 16:9 and 720p, with sound switched on wherever it is a setting, through the same generation path Vidney users get. There was one take per model and prompt, and we did not pick between takes. Clips are shown unedited, only compressed for the web. Generation time runs from submitting the job to the finished file and was measured with all clips submitted at once. We watched every clip frame by frame and transcribed the dialogue before writing a verdict.
Round 1: motion
A dog, a frisbee and a camera that has to keep up. Does the catch look physical?
A golden retriever sprints across a sunny park lawn, leaps and catches a red frisbee in its mouth in mid-air, lands and keeps running toward the camera. Low tracking shot at the dog's eye level, real-time speed, natural sound of paws on grass and birds in the trees.
Seedance 2.0Round winner
$5.85 per clip · ready in 288 s
A low camera under a clear blue sky. The dog leaps, takes the frisbee above its head at about two seconds and lands running at the lens, briefly dropping out of the bottom of the frame.

Veo 3.1 Fast
$1.44 per clip · ready in 73 s
Golden backlight, lens flare and a tracking camera at the dog's height. But the frisbee is already in its mouth on the first frame, there is no leap or catch, and the dog runs across the frame rather than toward the camera.

Round 2: dialogue with sound
One scripted line. We transcribed every clip to check the words and watched the lips.
Medium close-up in a cozy café. A woman in her thirties with curly dark hair and a green sweater looks into the camera, smiles and says, "Honestly, this is the best coffee in town." Soft background chatter and the hiss of an espresso machine. Static camera.
Seedance 2.0Round winner
$5.85 per clip · ready in 143 s
Smiles, then says "Honestly, this is the best coffee in town." word for word, ending just inside the four seconds. Wavy rather than curly hair, and a wall of shelves that only loosely reads as a café.

Round 3: product shot with text
A slow orbit, glass, water and a four-letter label. Does the label stay readable?
A slow orbit around a frosted glass perfume bottle standing on wet black stone. The label on the bottle reads "NOIR" in gold capital letters. Water droplets slide down the glass and a thin mist drifts behind it, warm rim light. Macro product shot, shallow depth of field, soft ambient music.
Seedance 2.0
$5.85 per clip · ready in 203 s
A standing, round frosted bottle with "NOIR" etched across it and warm mist behind. A second, misspelled "NOR" runs down the side, and the camera barely moves.
Try Seedance 2.0
Veo 3.1 Fast
$1.44 per clip · ready in 61 s
The "NOIR" lettering is bold and perfect and the droplets look real. But the bottle lies on its side, the camera pushes in instead of orbiting, and liquid drips from the open neck at the end.

Frequently asked questions
Is Seedance 2.0 better than Veo 3.1?
In our test Seedance 2.0 won two rounds and tied the third against Veo 3.1 Fast. It staged the frisbee catch and spoke the dialogue word for word, while Veo skipped the catch and its dialogue request was blocked twice. On the product shot each model made a different mistake. Veo 3.1 Fast was cheaper and faster.
Which is cheaper, Seedance 2.0 or Veo 3.1?
Veo 3.1 Fast at the same settings: $1.44 (48 credits) for a 4-second 720p clip with sound on Vidney, against $5.85 (195 credits) for Seedance 2.0, at the Starter plan rate. Dropping Seedance 2.0 to 480p brings its cheapest run to 90 credits (4 s, 480p); the cheapest Veo 3.1 Fast run is 48 credits (4 s, 720p).
Which one generates faster?
Veo 3.1 Fast averaged 67 seconds from submitting the job to a finished file; Seedance 2.0 averaged 211 seconds. All clips were submitted at the same moment, so queue time is included.
Why is there no Veo clip in the dialogue round?
Veo 3.1 Fast's request was blocked by a safety filter both times we submitted the same prompt, before any video was made. The error does not say which part of the prompt was flagged. We did not reword it, because the test gives both models the same prompt. On Vidney a blocked run is refunded.
Can I try them for free?
New Vidney accounts get 10 to 30 free credits depending on the country. The cheapest run is 48 credits on Veo 3.1 Fast (4 s, 720p) and 90 credits on Seedance 2.0 (4 s, 480p), so running either one needs purchased credits.
How was this test run?
On October 24, 2026, on Vidney: the same English prompt for both models, 4 seconds, 16:9, 720p, sound on, one take per prompt, shown unedited. The refused Veo prompt was resubmitted once, unchanged. We checked every clip frame by frame and transcribed the dialogue.
